Jewellery Making Course
Chantal offers private lessons, workshops and various courses in jewellery skills.
She has a fully equipped workshop which includes vacuum casting and electroforming
facilities. A maximum of 5 attendees ensures that each individual gets the required
attention. Courses range from those for beginners eg. ‘Basic Jewellery
Techniques’; methods for the intermediate student eg. ‘Traditional
Gemstone Setting’, ‘Working in Gold and Platinum’, ‘Lost-Wax
Casting’ and more advanced instruction eg. ‘Filigree
and Granulation’, ‘Inlay and Mokume Gane’. The
cost of the courses depends whether it is a private lesson or group; whether
it is a demonstration or workshop (where precious metals may be used) and depends
on the expense of the particular tools required.
The workshop is on a farm in the heart of the Kwazulu-Natal midlands.
A building
which was formerly stables has been converted into a country restaurant adjacent
to the studio. A light meal (included in the price of the course) is served from
here and can be savoured whilst taking in the breath-taking scenery during a
well-deserved lunch break. |
